Sen. King Places Bets in AI Industry

FEC filings released this month show that Sen. Angus King (through his wife) made 21 different stock purchases on July 21st.  Of those, 12 are tied directly to the emerging AI industry.  And of those 12, at least 3 donated toward Sen. King’s last re-election campaign.

Advanced Micro Devices Inc.
Responsible for some of the most advanced hardware available, AMD processors are regularly utilized in the worlds fastest super computers. They entered the AI semicondutor market last year in direct competition with Nvidia.  AMD has lobbied members of the Armed services committee, of which Sen. King is a member, on AI policy issues multiple times over the past couple years.

 

Alphabet Inc.
Google’s parent company, Alphabet developed Gemini, an AI platform integrated into google’s various products. Growth of the google search engine is being attributed to Gemini’s integration and Alphabet is reportedly investing $85 billion into its own AI infrastructure this year. Alphabet was Sen. King’s 7th largest campaign contributor.

 

Applied Materials Inc.
Known for cutting-edge semi-conductors, display technology and automation software, Applied Materials is, among other things, focusing on materials that could lower the energy demand required for these large AI data centers.

 

Arista Networks Inc
An established company in cloud and connectivity technologies, Arista has recently announced its own AI suite geared toward increasing efficiency and performance for AI workloads.

 

Autodesk Inc
Established software company operating in mutliple industries spanning from architecture and construction to education and media. Has developed AI technologies into their software offerings.

 

Blackstone Inc
The infamous asset manager recently made a $25 billion investment into AI data centers.

 

Marvell Technology
Developing cloud and interconnection technologies for emerging AI industry.

 

Meta Platforms Inc.
The parent company of Facebook, Meta is another company that has spent the past several years investing into their own AI models for utilization within their products. Meta was also a donor to Sen. King’s re-election campaign.

 

Microsoft Corp.
Microsoft has been in the AI game for some time and their Microsoft AI division recently announced the release of a multiple ai-models they will be incorporating into there products.  In addition to Microsoft being Sen. Angus King’s 2nd biggest election donor they’ve also lobbied the Senate Armed Service Committee, which Sen. King is a member of, on AI policy issues.

Leader in the semiconductors used in AI computing.

 

Uber Technologies Inc
Uber AI, a division of Uber Technologies, has been investing in AI powered applications for years.

 

Vertiv Holdings LLC
Created, among other things, a liquid cooled system for AI data sites and has recently purchases an AI software company to integrate with their monitoring systems.

 

Somewhere between $1,001 to $15,000 was invested into each of the 21 stocks purchased by Mrs. Senator Angus King.  Senator King’s estimated $21.57 million dollar net worth is about $7.5 million more than the net worth of Maine’s other 3 DC delegates combined.
